Triggs InnerClub

Since 1933 the Triggs Innerclub has been a club within a club. While the Triggs Golf Course is owned and leased by the city of Providence the Triggs Innerclub is recognized in the charter and is in charge of promoting amateur golf and social activities at the club. Our organization is recognized and affiliated to the USGA, RIGA and NEPGA and is a member of these organizations.

Arthur Prisco, an original member in 1933, is our patriarch. Amazingly just last year Arthur competed in the RIGA Senior Net Championship becoming the oldest RIGA participant in any event, ever. He also competed in a number of club events, and we look forward to seeing him in 2010.

About Donald Ross (From Donald Ross Society Web-site)

Transplanted Scotsman Donald Ross transformed the American sports landscape in the first half of this century. At his death in 1948, he left behind a legacy of 413 courses, including such gems as Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina, Seminole in Florida, and the site of the 1996 U.S. Open, Oakland Hills outside Detroit. Over 100 U.S. national championships have been played on his designs. Small wonder his name still resonates among the game's aficionados.

Some feel his finest work in the state of RI is Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence RI, one of the few championship municipal public 18 hole courses designed by Ross. Opened in 1932, Triggs was considered one of the finest courses in the East that could be played at a minimum expense.
